The beginning of something new

Last Wednesday was a new experience for me. My colleagues and I started off class together with a few ice breakers to try and get to know our students more. We all realized that our perception of the children these days was completely different. Even though there was less than decade difference in age, there was a clear technological difference. Although my student had so much knowledge in using iPhones, she knew less about real life applications of computers. As technology advances, the younger generation is becoming more and more reliant on technology than we ever did. After a few minutes of getting to know each other, we moved onto using the computer. Although my student didn't know much about Word, PowerPoint she was more proficient in the basics of the Internet. I taught her a few basic things about what exactly the Office package was about and how to insert pictures.  She picked up pretty quickly about the things I said, and could easily repeat everything we did. Seemingly she was becoming edgy so I ended off by letting her play a few games to lighten up the mood. Although we didn't do much that relates back to IT 101, but it should be a fun ride up ahead!
