Entry 2

(Entry supposed to be made 14/10/2013)

This entry is pretty late, but my Google account has been nothing short of issues. Excuses excuses. Anyway, so the past few weeks have been a really big enhancement for me. I've learned so much about how the younger generation operates, and honestly, I don't seem to hate them as much.

I came into service learning thinking I would hate its guts, and I was convinced I wouldn't make it through. So far its been 3 weeks and I've already adjusted to it; it seems like just another part of my normal Wednesday.

So far the past few days, I taught my student how to use the internet and what citation is. I have said this so many times in my lesson evaluations and I don't seem to stop being able to say this, but kids really do pick up things really well!Sadly so far we haven't dealt with Excel as of yet, so there is no reference to IT 101 as of yet, but soon, very soon it shall!

Putting all that aside and getting more real with whats what, one of the challenges I've faced time and time again is that it's been just hard getting through to my student sometimes, and it frustrates me, but then again I remember that I was once a kid as well. It works out that way. I had mentors that had to deal with me, and so I better carry their legacy forward. There will come a time when they will be in my shoes, and all I can hope for is that my student draws inspiration from me, even if for a second.
